Description

Tol et al reported a nomogram for a patient with pancreatic or periampullary cancer. These can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from Academic Medical Centre Amsterdam in The Netherlands.

Patient selection: pancreatic or periampullary cancer

Parameters:

(1) adjuvant treatment

(2) resection margin R0 or R1 (tumor within 1 mm of margin)

(3) tumor differentiation

(4) lymph node ratio

lymph node ratio =

= (number of lymph nodes with metastases) / (total number of lymph nodes examined)

Interpretation:

minimum score: 0

maximum score: 250

The higher the score the worse the survival.

percent survival at 3 years =

= (0.000004916 * ((score)^3)) - (0.0013036 * ((score)^2)) - (0.24538 * (score)) + 67.068
