Some patients with cancer may show a change in expression of Lewis antigens.
Inappropriate expression of Lewis antigens involves:
(1) Patient who is Lewis(a-b+) expressing Lewis(a)
(2) Patient who is Lewis (a+b-) expressing Lewis(b)
The change may occur:
(1) in tumor cells
(2) on red blood cells
(3) in saliva
Occurrence:
(1) colon adenocarcinoma
(2) pancreatic carcinoma
(3) gastric adenocarcinoma
