Description

A large number of pathogens may be associated with foodborne outbreaks. Some are related to food production. Others may be associated with food workers.


Bacteria that tend to be associated with outbreaks involving food workers:

(1) Salmonella species

(2) Shigella species

(3) Staphylococcus aureus

(4) Streptococcus Group A or Group G

 

Viruses that tend to be associated with outbreaks involving food workers:

(1) norovirus

(2) hepatitis A virus

 

Parasites that tend to be associated with outbreaks involving food workers:

(1) Cyclospora

(2) Giardia

(3) Cryptosporidia
