A person exposed to non-ionizing radiation is at risk for developing cataracts.
People at risk:
(1) atomic bomb or nuclear accident survivors
(2) radiology technicians
(3) interventional radiologists and cardiologists
(4) astronauts
(5) head and neck cancer treated with radiation, especially ocular and periorbital tumors
(6) following injection of radium 224
Differential diagnosis:
(1) other causes of cataracts, especially ultraviolet radiation
