Morra et al developed a simple score for predicting prognosis for patients with the myelodysplastic syndrome. Its elements overlap the scores of Goasguen, Sanz and Dusseldorf (described above). The authors are from Pavia in Italy.
Parameters:
(1) age
(2) bone marrow blasts
(3) hemoglobin
(4) platelet count

= SUM(points for all 4 parameters)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 4
• The higher the score, the worse the prognosis.
