The Pain Observation Scale for Young Children (abbreviated to POCIS, probably from the Dutch) is intended to evaluate pain in children aged from 1 to 4 years of age. It can be used to assess pain of short or long duration. The work was primarily done at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

• The greater the score, the greater the discomfort that the child is in.
