Anyfanti et al identified factors associated with an impaired quality of life for a patient with a rheumatic disease. These can help to identify a patient who may benefit from interventions to improve their life. The authors are from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece.
Patient selection: rheumatic disease
Outcome: impaired quality of life
Predictors for an impaired quality of life from a multiple regression model:
(1) anxiety (and psychological distress)
(2) pain
(3) physical disability
(4) duration of the rheumatic disease
where:
• For the implementation the duration of the disease was arbitrarily set at 10 years. An alternative could be 8 years.
