Wu et al reported prognostic factors for Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST). These included the Naples Prognostic Score (NPS), which was a significant predictor. The authors are from Shandong University and affilitated organizations in China.
Patient selection: GIST, intermediate or high risk
Prognostic factors:
(1) Naples prognostic score (NPS), as Group 0 (0 points), Group 1 (1 or 2 points), or Group 2 (3 or 4 points; HR 4.62 for Group 1; HR 12.77 for Group 2)
(2) tumor location (HR 0.52 if gastric)
(3) tumor size (HR 1.84 if > 10 cm)
(4) mitotic index (HR 1.75 if > 10 mitoses per 50 hpf))
(5) multi-organ involvement (HR 1.87)
(6) post-operative imatinib (HR 0.49)
