Huang et al reported a prognostic index for a patient with pancreatic cancer. This can predict survival for the patient. The authors are from Central South University, Three Gorges University, and affiliated hospitals.
Patient selection: pancreatic cancer
Parameters:
(1) tumor grade (presumable from well-differentiated to undifferentiated)
(2) vascular invasion
(3) TNM stage
(4) neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR)
(5) platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR)

Interpretation:
• miniimum score: 0
• maximum score: 17.415
• The higher the prognostic index the worse the survival.
Performance:
• The area under the ROC curve for NLR alone was 0.78.
• The area under the ROC curve for PLR was 0.71.
