Description

Schweitzer et al reported a prognostic model for a patient with a cancer of the biliary tract. This can help to identify a patient who may benefit from palliative care. The authors are from Hannover Medical School, Klinikum Hildesheim, University of Liverpool, Charite Universitatsmedizin Berlin, University of Bonn and Johannes Gutenberg University.


Types of bile duct cancer:

(1) intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

(2) extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (perihilar, distal)

(3) gallbladder cancer

(2) serum total bilirubin in µmol/L

(3) INR

(4) serum CRP in mg/L

(5) age in years
