Terada described pseudomyxoma cutis in a patient with anal mucinous adenocarcinoma. The author is from Shizuoka City Shimizu Hospital in Japan.
Features of pseudomyxoma cutis:
(1) The presence of a myxomatous nodules in the dermis and subcutaneous tissues.
(2) A biopsy shows pools of mucin.
(3) Mucin-secreting cells are present but sometimes in low numbers.
Source: mucinous tumor, usually a mucinous adenocarcinoma
Method of introduction:
(1) direct invasion
(2) trauma
(3) leakage at previous surgery
