The UCLA Integrated Staging System (UISS) for renal cell carcinoma combines tumor stage, histologic grade and patient performance status into a single value that correlates with survival. The UISS is simple to use and predicts patient survival better than the TNM stage alone. The system was developed by urologists at UCLA in Los Angeles.
Parameters:
(1) TNM stage, using the revised 1997 criteria
(2) Fuhrman grade (from 1 to 4)
(3) ECOG performance (from 0 to 4)
