Gorelick et al reported the Revised Pediatric Emergency Assessment Tool (RePEAT) for evaluating pediatric patients in the Emergency Department (ED). One component is a model for probability of an intervention in the ED. The authors are from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Children's Research Institute of Milwaukee, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, duPont Hospital for Children and the University of Pennsylvania.
Patient selection: pediatric patient in the Emergency Department
Parameters:
(1) complain quintile ranking (Pediatric Emergency Reason for Visit Clusters, see Table 2)
(2) age group
(3) triage category
(4) arrival via emergency medical services (EMS)
(5) currently taking prescription medications
(6) heart rate as multiple of age-appropriate norm
(7) respiratory rate as multiple of age-appropriate norm
(8) temperature in °C
