Valent et al report criteria for describing the response to theraph shown by a patient with cutaneous mastocytosis. The authors are from multiple universities in North America and Europe.

A major regression in symptoms is also used when there is a significant decrease in the frequency of severe (Grade 4) symptoms:

(1) from more than once a month to less often (from C to B in the frequency level)

(2) from several times a year to less than once a year (from B to A in the frequency level)
