The revised Swiss Emergency Triage Scale (SETS) provides better standardization which improves triage of an adult in the Emergency Department.
SETS Level |
Significance |
Triage |
1 |
life-threatening |
immediate |
2 |
potentially life-threatening |
within 20 minutes |
3 |
urgent but not life-threatening |
within 120 minutes |
4 |
nonurgent |
to follow |
Parameter:
(1) Glasgow coma scale (GCS)
(2) heart rate in beats per minute
(3) systolic and diastolic blood pressures in mm Hg
(4) shock index (heart rate divided by systolic blood pressure)
(5) respiratory rate in breaths per minute
(6) cyanosis
(7) oxygen saturation in percent
(8) "peak flow" as percent of predicted (will use PEFR)
(9) temperature in °C
(10) blood glucose in mmol/L

Performance:
• The system shows high reliability and a low rate of mistriage.
