A number of conditions may impair the immune system, making a person more susceptible to developing clinical blastomycosis.
Conditions associated with blastomycosis - one or more of the following:
(1) diabetes mellitus
(2) HIV positive AND CD4 lymphocyte count < 200 per µL
(3) daily prednisone dose > 10 mg for >= 4 weeks
(4) daily dose of an equivalent corticosteroid for >= 4 weeks
(5) anti-tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) therapy within the past 6 months
(6) hematopoietic stem cell transplant AND chronic immunosuppressive therapy
(7) solid organ transplant AND chronic immunosuppressive therapy
(8) malignancy AND therapy with cytotoxic drugs
(9) other receipt of systemic immunomodulating agent
