Surgical site complications include:
(1) seroma
(2) hematoma
(3) surgical site infection (SSI)
(4) abscess
(5) dehiscence
Risk factors for a surgical site complication:
(1) body mass index at term > 31.1 kg per square meter
(2) wound length > 166 mm (measured after skin closure)
(3) corticosteroid administration prior to surgery
