Description

Mizota et al identified risk factors associated with acute kidney injury (AKI) associated with major intra-abdominal surgery. These can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from Kyoto University.

Patient selection: intra-abdominal surgery

Parameters:

(1) AKI risk index of Kheterpal, from 1 to 5

(2) intraoperative blood loss in mL per kilogram

(3) intraoperative vasopressor infusion

(4) intraoperative urine output in mL per kilogram per hour
