Massicotte-Azarniouch et al reported the risk of venous thromboembolism in patients based on estimated glomerular filtration rate and level of albuminuria. The authors are from multiple institutions in Canada.
Parameters:
(1) eGFR
(2) urinary albumin to creatinine ratio (ACR) in mg per gram

The greatest risk is seen with a eGFR > 90 mL/min/1.73 square meters and albuminuria (albumin to creatinine ratio > 300 mg per gram creatinine).
Often the risk is combined with risk from other comorbidities and medications.
