Description

Capparelli et al reported a risk score for choledocholithiasis in pediatric patients. The authors are from J.P. Garrahan Hospital in Buenos Aires.

NOTE: Three of the parameters are similar to those reported by Ignacio et al.

Patient selection: age 11 to 15 years (adolescent)

Parameters:

(1) serum total bilirubin in mg/dL

(2) diameter of common bile duct in mm in imaging studies

(3) stones in the common bile duct on ultrasonography

(4) ascending cholangitis
