Description

Goel et al developed a semiquantitative score for evaluating a patient for the familial antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. Two subscores deal with laboratory manifestations. The authors are from multiple universities and hospitals in the United States and Canada.

Subscore for coagulation testing:

(1) aPTT

(2) dRVVT (dilute Russell viper venom test)

(3) mixing studies with normal plasma

(4) phospholipid dependent inhibitory activity (DVV Confirm, platelet neutralization)

Coagulation Testing

Points

prolonged screening tests with evidence of phospholipid inhibitory activity

3

prolonged screening tests but phospholipids inhibitory activity not performed; prolonged screening tests that do not correct in mixing studies

2

prolonged screening tests, not due to anticoagulants, mixing studies not performed

1

aPTT prolonged but corrects with mixing studies

0

all normal

0

Subscore for serologic testing:

(1) anticardiolipin antibodies (IgG)

(2) anticardiolipin antibodies (IgM)

(3) anti-beta2 glycoprotein I (GPI)

Anticardiolipin IgG

Anticardiolipin IgM

Anti-beta2 GPI
