Description

Goodacre et al developed a simple score for predicting mortality for an emergency medical patient admitted to the hospital. This is based on a subset of the RAPS and REMS scoring systems. The authors are from the Medical Care Research Unit at the University of Sheffield in England.

Patient selection: emergency medical patient admitted to the hospital

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 14

• The higher the score the greater the risk of in-hospital mortality.

• The authors did not report the cutoff used for their ROC curve analysis.

Performance:

• The area under the ROC curve was 0.81.

• The sensitivity and specificity were not reported.
