Malmstrom et al reported the SARC-F questionnaire to help screen for sarcopenia and sarcopenia-related adverse outcomes. The authors are from Saint Louis University, Indiana University and the National Institute on Aging.
SARC-F is an acronym for
(1) strength (S): difficulty lifting or carrying 10 lbs
(2) assistance walking (A): walking across a room
(3) rise from chair (R): transferring from chair or bed
(4) climb stairs (C): flight of 10 steps
(5) falls (F): number of falls in past year (see below)

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 10
• The higher the score the greater the risk for sarcopenia.
• A score >= 4 was associated with disability, reduced grip strength, slow gait, mortality and other negative outcomes.
