Description

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of autosomal recessive disorders of adrenal steroidogenesis which may be associated with an increase in androgen production.


In general the sexuality of males with CAH is comparable to other males in a society.

 

Factors associated with reduced sexuality in males:

(1) psychological factors (anxiety, depression, etc)

(2) severe CAH

(3) high-dose glucocorticoid therapy

 

Problems may include:

(1) lack of sexual desire

(2) difficulty in getting aroused

(3) premature ejaculation

(4) reduced fertility associated with reduced spermatogenesis

(5) under-virilization
