Gossop developed a short opiate withdrawal score with 10 questions based on the 32-item Opiate Withdrawal Scale of Bradley et al. The score is simple to understand and easy to administer. The author so from the Maudsley and Bethlem Royal Hospital in Beckenham, England.

(2) stomach cramps
(3) muscle spasms and/or twitching
(4) feeling cold
(5) heart pounding
(6) muscle tension
(7) aches and pains
(8) yawning
(9) runny eyes
(10) insomnia, problems sleeping
