Laughon et al developed a simplified version of the Bishop score which predictive of vaginal delivery. The authors are from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development at NIH.
Difference from the original Bishop: removal of 2 of the 5 components (consistency and position)

• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 9 (vs 13 for the original score)
• A score > 5 predicted successful induction with vaginal delivery.
Performance:
• The positive predictive value was 88% with a negative predictive value of 31%.
• The correct classification rate was 51%.
