Stages of Blazina et al for Jumper's Knee (Patellar Tendinopathy)

Blazina et al developed a simple staging system for patellar tendinopathy (jumper's knee) based on clinical findings.

Patient selection: jiumper's knee

Parameters:

(1) occurrence of pain relative to activities

(2) rupture of the patellar tendon

Pain	Patellar Tendon	Stage
only after sports	intact	I
pain at beginning of activity; disappears after warm-up; pain returns with fatigue	intact	II
constant. during activity and at rest	intact	III
NA	complete rupture	IV
