Quintero et al reported a staging system for the twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS). The authors are from the Florida Institute for Fetal Diagnosis and Therapy in Tampa.
Patient selection: twin-twin transfusion syndrome
Severe TTTS is defined as either:

(1) visualization of the urinary bladder of the donor twin (BDT)
(2) critically abnormal Doppler studies (CADs): absent or reverse end-diastolic velocity in an umbilical artery, reverse flow in the ductus venosus, and/or pulsatile flow in the umbilical vein
(3) hydrops fetalis
