Predictors of projected and perceived stigma:
(1) female sex
(2) higher household wealth
(3) post-traumatic stress disorder
(4) fear of Ebola
(5) perceived infection risk
(6) no or little social support from family
(7) lower self-efficacy
(8) ongoing or recent Ebola outbreak
Since Ebola virus may be shed by victims after clinical recovery, there may be some basis for people to perceive a risk of infection.
Stigma may also extend to healthcare workers.
