A child who pretends that he or she is a superhero may discover how few superpowers they have. Davies et al identified a number of features that are common
Age range of children: 3 to 8 years
Risk factors for injury:
(1) male gender
(2) being dressed up in a superhero costume
(3) performing a high-risk stunt (jumping from height, swinging from a rope, etc)
(4) lack of parental supervision
Additional risk factors may include:
(1) history of previous play injury
The presence of padding in the costume may protect the padded areas from blunt injury.
Observations:
(1) While the character and costume may change, the desire to be a superhero remains.
(2) Children - do not try this at home.
