Thrombocytopenia-Associated Multiple Organ Failure (TAMOF) is a term used in Korea to describe a condition that includes DIC, TTP, HUS, and thrombotic microangiopathy.
Features:
(1) thrombocytopenia
(2) schistocytosis, as indicated with the TMA score (with microcytic hyperchromia)
(3) normal to reduced ADAMTS-13
(4) multi-organ failure
(5) high mortality if untreated
Listed causes include:
(1) sepsis
(2) cancer
(3) transplantation
(4) cardiopulmonary bypass
(5) autoimmune vasculitis
(6) drug-induced
