Cancer of the fallopian tubes can be classified using the TNM or the FIGO systems.

where:

• Metastasis to the peritoneum over the liver is T3, while hepatic parenchymal metastasis is M1.

one tube involved with intact serosa	T1a	IA
two tubes involved, both with intact serosa	T1b	IB
serosa penetrated with malignant cells on fluid cytology	T1c	IC

Subclassification in Pelvic Extension	TNM	FIGO
involvement of uterus and/or ovaries	T2a	IIA
involvement of other pelvic structures	T2b	IIB
malignant cells in fluid cytology	T2c	IIC

Subclassification in Extrapelvic Peritoneal Extension	TNM	FIGO
microscopic peritoneal metastasis	T3a	IIIA
peritoneal metastasis <= 2 cm in diameter	T3b	IIIB
peritoneal metastasis > 2 cm in diameter	T3c	IIIC
