Period: first 6 months after radiation therapy
Acute gastrointestinal toxicities:
(1) enteritis
(2) proctitis
(3) hemorrhoids
(4) bowel obstruction
Acute urinary tract toxicities:
(1) cystitis
Acute hematologic toxicities:
(1) anemia
(2) neutropenia
(3) thrombocytopenia
Acute dermatologic toxicities:
(1) dermatitis (tenderness, pruritis)
(2) desquamation
Risk factors:
(1) prior abdominal or pelvic surgery
(2) prior pelvic inflammatory bowel disease
(3) diabetes
(4) arteriosclerosis
(5) inflammatory bowel disease
(6) prior radiation therapy to the pelvis
