The triglyceride-glucose-BMI index may correlate with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and other metabolic disorders.
Parameters:
(1) serum triglyceride in mg/dL
(2) fasting plasma glucose in mg/dL
(3) body mass index (BMI) in kg per square meter
triglyceride-glucose index =
= LN(((serum triglyceride) + (fasting glucose))/2)
triglyceride-glucose-BMI index =
= (triglyceride-glucose index) * (BMI)
Interpretation:
• The risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease increases as the index increases.
Performance:
• In nonobese patients the index had an area under the ROC curve of 0.835 for detected NAFLD.
