The umbilicus may rarely develop myiasis.
Clinical features:
(1) presence of maggots or a mass lesion at the umbilicus
(2) variable presence of a secondary bacterial infection
Risk factors:
(1) neonate
(2) poor umbilical hygiene
(3) large number of flies
(4) umbilical region accessible to flies
