Pounds and kilograms are essential measures of weight in the English and Metric systems respectively. Ounces and grams are the smaller constituent measures for pounds and kilograms, with 16 ounces composing 1 pound and 1,000 grams composing 1 kilogram.
NOTE: The U.S. weights are avoirdupois.
pounds =

kilograms =
= (pounds) / (2.2046) = (pounds) * 0.45359
1 pound =

ounces =
= 0.03527 * (grams)
grams =
= 28.35 * (ounces)
NOTE: While converting weight between kilograms and pounds is common, engineers may distinguish the mass of the object from its weight caused by gravity.
