The "up-to-seven" criteria is a simple rule for selecting a patient with hepatocellular carcinoma for liver transplantation.
Patient selection: hepatocellular carcinoma without metastases
Parameters:
(1) diameter of the largest tumor in cm
(2) total number of liver nodules
up-to-seven score =
= (diameter in cm) + (number of tumor nodules)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: around 2
• maximum score: over 10
• A liver transplant can be considered if the score is <= 7.
